PRIVATE LESSONS & GROUP SESSIONS


Introduction to the Wheel / Private Lesson / $150 (2 hours)
During this two hour lesson, we'll cover the basics of wheel-thrown pottery. Designed for beginners, this private session will provide an overview of the medium and an opportunity to gain confidence in a supported setting. We'll work one-on-one to create cylinders and bowls from stoneware clay - with time for you to explore the wheel on your own! You'll be able to choose 2-3 pieces from our session which will be finished in a satin white glaze for you (ready in 3-4 weeks). All tools, clay, and materials are included.

Additional Private Lesson / $150 (2 hours)
A two hour one-on-one lesson for those interested in expanding their studio experience after the introductory class. Classes will be geared toward learning additional forms on the wheel as well as in-depth surface decorations. You’ll be able to choose 2-3 pieces from the class which will be finished from a selection of glazes (ready in 3-4 weeks). All tools, clay, and materials are included.

Group Session Series / Hand-building Basics & Open Studio Time / $350 (6 hours total)
Please join me for a series of three group sessions that will gather Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30pm. Demonstration of basic hand-building and surface decoration techniques will begin each session, followed by time to work independently on your project. All tools, clay, and materials are included. Each week you’ll get 5lbs of clay to use during your session. At the end of the three sessions, you’ll choose from either clear or satin white glaze to finish your pieces. Completed glaze-fired work will be available for pickup 3-4 weeks after your last session. No need to bring anything, all tools and material will be provided (6lbs of clay total). Maximum of three participants for group sessions.

Intro to the Wheel: Throw, Trim, & Glaze / Private Lessons Series / $450 (6 hours total)
Over the course of three two hour sessions, we'll cover the basics of wheel-thrown pottery. Designed for beginners, this three part series will provide an overview of the medium and an opportunity to gain confidence in a supported setting. All tools, clay, and materials are included.

  • THROW / Working one-on-one, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wheel-thrown pottery by creating cylinders and bowl forms with guided assistance. You’ll choose 3-4 pieces which we’ll finish together in the following sessions.

  • TRIM / You’ll learn how to create a finished foot on your pottery by trimming it on the wheel. We’ll also cover how to pull and attach handles to the cylinders to create mugs.

  • GLAZE / During the final lesson, you’ll learn how to glaze your bisque-fired pieces from a selection of glazes. Your pieces will be glazed fired and ready for pick-up 3-4 weeks after your last session (shipping is also available).
